Music is moving from a genre specific medium to one that is expressed and appreciated worldwide.
“REMEMBER” by Nigerian artist MARENIKAE is a perfect representation of the new inclusive wave of music that blurs genres, generates conversations and extends an invitation across cultural lines
While the song is based loosely on a conversation she had as a young girl with her Grandmother, MARENIKAE says she wrote the song to both empower women and to demonstrate their collective strength. Instead of the age old story starring a scorned woman nursing her tears in bitterness after infidelity; “Remember” is a battle cry for women to dry their tears and get back to the business of conquering the world.
MARENIKAE’s sultry vocals meshed against an international pop track offer a single that can satisfy both a rhythmic and soulful appetite while appealing to an international audience. The track is a collaboration of southern hip hop producer Cory Mo (Gucci Mane, UGK) and Nigerian producer Bigfootinyourface (Aramide, Nosa, Illbliss).
